Mumba began her directing training with the Intro to Directing course at the Young Vic theatre. Her work centers around changing perceptions of who we can see in theatre and bringing to light stories that are traditionally untold. She was part of the 2019-2020 National Youth Theatre Rep company as Bryan Forbes Assistant Director, where she was the first recipient to direct a rep show, Great Expectations at Southwark Playhouse, for which she received several Offie Nominations, including one for Best Directing. Mumba is also a co-founder of the Diversity School Initiative, a company established to hold drama schools accountable for inclusivity and representation in all aspects of their training.
